The house was built in 1935 and in 1942 was bought by Jean Howard and Charles K. Feldman, a talent agent who worked with John Wayne and Lauren Bacall among other movie titans. Jean Howard was a former Ziegfeld girl and later a photographer and a legendary hostess. After the renovation by decorator William Haines, the house had been frequented by Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich, Humphrey Bogart and Marilyn Monroe. In 1960, Feldman and Howard hosted a soirée to introduce the future president John F. Kennedy to the movie business legends.
The house was restored and updated by interior design firm Commune.
