ELLE Interiör’s Designer of the Year: Claesson Koivisto Rune (Sweden)

The ELLE Interiör Design Awards is one of the most prestigious of the Swedish design awards, only promoting the very best.

The architect and designer trio has the whole world as its field and works in every conceivable format, from entire buildings through furniture to tiny details. We give the Year award designs for Marten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune for their innovation, versatility and unique talent and because they make us feel that Sweden is an important place in the design world map.

Nobis Hotel was designed wih a holistic attitude and a certain amount of eccentricity. The extravagant Gold Bar, the French-inspired 24/7 bistro, the Italian trattoria Caina on the floor below, the conference room with wooden panels, each space have been given a distinctly different character. Despite this, each space flows into the next so that the spatial context is strong.

The color scheme and lighting design are also warm and subdued, we call it Scandinavian dark blond. Another recurring theme is subtle patterns, in many cases derived from our own abstracted architectural drawings, like the corridor carpeting and the wallpaper in the conference section.
Apart from the fixed features like the reception desk in rusted shiping steel, a large number of new furniture designs, textiles and lighting has been created specifically for the hotel.
