Dee Hilfiger, the designer’s wife and a former model says they bought it in 2008 and tried to create an old-world atmosphere, incorporating as much of the history of the building as they could, like having on the dining-room walls the photographs of Truman Capote’s Black and White Ball, that took place at the Plaza over 40 years ago.
